Hassan Ali - (Bruce McCoy), is the author of “What Have I Gotten Myself into? Hassan was born and raised in the Weequahic section of Newark, New Jersey.  He is the youngest boy of his seven siblings. 


Jules Ali Purefoy is a child author and aspiring actor.  He has always been creative with storytelling and enjoys making his audience laugh.  Jules has been modeling before he was a year old and has been featured as a VIP model for Wild Child Magazine.  Jules loves playing basketball, swimming, Taekwondo, wrestling, and is a World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) fanatic.  Through his writing, he hopes to be able to put a smile on everyone’s face.

Shadell Purefoy is a certified elementary teacher and currently a school principal.  She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Early Childhood/Elementary Education and minored in General Strategic Management at Temple University, in Philadelphia, PA.  Shadell received her Master’s degree in Educational Leadership and Policy from Seton Hall University in South Orange, NJ. Shadell’s teaching is used as a model to develop teachers in training programs across the country and she has been featured in two well-known texts.  When Shadell is not serving in education, she enjoys shopping, traveling, and spending time with her family. 


R. T. Williams Photographers Mate First Class USN R.T. Williams is a Navy Veteran who served 11 years active duty [1975-1986]. He was part of the Navy/Marine Corp Cinema Class of 1982-83 at USC in Los Angeles CA., and served aboard the USS Kitty Hawk CV 63, FAPL Cubi Pt Philippines. Williams was able to attend the University of Maryland on the GI Bill, and after years in the Military, Williams returned home and put his Degree to use by beginning his career as a cameraman. He has worked at Cox Broadcasting and WJLA TV, both in Washing- ton DC, and for the past 22 years at the Washington Bureau of NBC News, where he is the President of his Trade Union. Williams is married and the father of three grown sons and has two grandsons. He resides in Rockville, Maryland. He is the author of “P.I.75 Murder in Olongapo City.


 Da’Monique Higgs (Nique), was born in Newark, New Jersey.  She moved to Hacksensack, New Jersey where she completed her High School and Vocational Education.  Da’Monique loves baking in her spare time.  Da’Monique is Dawn’s daughter, the oldest of two children. She has one son, Demetri.

  


L. Roseborois a 47-year-old mother of four, three living one deceased.  She has faced adversity throughout her entire life and because of God’s grace and mercy, has overcame every trial and tribulation.  L. Roseboro was born and educated in the Newark School System, she obtained her Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work from Rutgers University, Newark and a Master’s Degree in Counseling from Norfolk State University.  She is employed as a Social Work Supervisor.


Rasheem Price is a native of Newark, New Jersey.  He currently lives in New Port, Virginia with his fiancé and he has one daughter.  Rasheem is Lisa’s son, the youngest of four.

 


Juanita J. Jennings (Meana) is a native of Newark, NJ. She received her Bachelor’s Degree at Rutgers University, Newark.  She is a Master School Teacher in Dekalb County, Georgia where she currently resides.  She spends her free time traveling and volunteering in other Countries, having traveled to Guatemala and South Africa, where she helped to build homes for families in need. Her hobbies are photography and spending time with love ones. Laquan is her only child.


Laquan Macklin is a native of Newark, New Jersey.  He relocated to Dallas, Texas when he was a child.  After graduating High School, Laquan entered the Army Reserves.  Laquan currently resides in Rex, Georgia.  He is the only child of Juanita.


Ursula Hudson was born, raised and educated in Newark, New Jersey, where she currently resides and works as an Administrative Coordinator at Rutgers-NJMS, formerly (UMDNJ).  Ursula is a dedicated care taker of her elderly parents and she enjoys spending time with her family. Sharon is her only child and she has one granddaughter, Savannah. 


Sharon Elise.  At an early age, Sharon can remember curating ideas in her mind and flushing them out on paper so she wouldn’t forget. An avid writer, she kept notebooks filled with her writings and poetry. She pursued a formal education in Psychology, though her passion for writing never wavered. After working at several unsatisfying jobs, Sharon knew it was time to fill the void with her love for writing. She started her own blog “Sharon Elise” and began writing articles and blogging. Sharon is a featured writer for several online publications including Blavity and Be Yourself. Pastor Bryant R. Ali, aka, "The Pastor in the Hood" is a native of Northern New Jersey and currently serves as pastor of New Psalmist Worship Center, Newark, New Jersey.  Pastor Ali was educated in the Newark, Orange and Hillside, New Jersey public school systems.  He is also clinically trained and has attended several higher learning centers and holds a Doctorate of Divinity degree in Holistic Theology.  He is personally submitted to the spiritual covering of Bishop Vaughn McLaughlin and Covenant Fellowship International.  Pastor Ali currently serves as the President of the South Ward Clergy Alliance, the First Attendant to the State of New Jersey Bishop Rudy V. Carlton of the Full Gospel Baptist Church Fellowship International, and as the First Vice President for the Baptist Ministers Conference of Newark and vicinity.  He also serves in the role of Spiritual Counselor for the Newark Anti-Violence Coalition, on the board of the BLCSD Partnership, and he is a member of Newark's Civilian Complaint Review Board.  He is a Community Activist, Counselor, Teacher and Preacher with an urban twist.

Pastor Ali is married to Lady Balena L. Ali and they share a blended family of 8 adult children, 19 grandchildren, 1 great grand, and a host of spiritual sons and daughters.  "When a 'Father' Fails" is his first book.  His second work, "Trapped and Looking for an Exit" will be released soon.

Jalloh congratulating her on her accomplishments.  She was honored as one of five local “She-roes” at the 2018 Women’s Month Celebration in union, was named Walmart Player of the Game by the New Jersey Devils and Dasia was also presented with a “30 Under 30” Honorary Cloud Kid of New Jersey award.   

Dasia is very active in her community, participating in various community service events and speaking to her peers at local schools.  She volunteers every month at her Church, assisting in feeding the less fortunate and in the giving of clothing, school supplies and toys for the holidays.  Dasia donates proceeds of her book sales to her Church’s scholarship fund and has donated a basketball and ping pong set to the Boys and Girls Club of Union where she is an active member. In addition to being an Author, DasiaVu has branded herself and created tee shirt, hat, tote bags and mug lines. 

Dasia’s vision is to capture her life’s events in books to allow her peers to journey with her through those tough teenage years.Dasia stands on Gender Equality and believes that everyone should receive equal opportunities regardless of gender.
