You don’t have to be a Military Veteran to enjoy this murder mystery set in the 70’s on a U.S. Naval Base at Subic Bay, Olongapo City, Philippines. R.T. Williams, a Navy Vet, tells the story of the body of a Black Serviceman washing up in the “Shit River,” near the US Naval Base at Subic Bay and Military Investigator Rick Baptiste’ quest to get to the bottom of “who did it and why.” He intertwines the government and the military with; race, class, imperialism, human exploitation, greed, murder, and music. His love of music will have you humming the tunes of Eckstine, Lee Morgan, Coleman “Hawk” Hawkins, Kool and the Gang, and James Brown as his investigation takes him the shanty town of Olongapo City - “PO Town” – a City that’s filled with sex, drugs, crime, pedophilia and thousands of US Soldiers.

I enjoyed this project as it brought back many laughable memories of my days in the Pacific Theatre. The book peaked my interest thru vivid descriptions and a well-developed murder mystery. Its arrangement and flow made for easy navigation from chapter to chapter enhancing my reading experience. —Thomas May, SMSgt, USAF (ret)

R.T. Williams has written an amazing novel. A cool, rich and suspenseful whodunit that isn’t just another cop tale. Nothing superficial here. This is a deep, full and savvy story, rich in real and complicated relationships. A sophisticated chase - augmented by silky smooth dialogue and driven by descriptions of music that will make you feel the rhythm of U.S. military life in the 1970s Philippines. I got lost in it. You will too. — Jeffrey Blount, author of The Emancipation of Evan Walls
